Real Madrid Wins Spanish Supercup in Saudi Arabia

Real Madrid was crowned champion of the Spanish Supercup after defeating Athletic Bilbao with a score of 2-0 in the final match held today, Sunday, in the Saudi capital, Riyadh. The goals for the royal team were scored by Croatian Luka Modric and Frenchman Karim Benzema in the 38th and 52nd minutes, respectively. With this title, Real Madrid increased its count of Spanish Supercup trophies to 12, closing the gap to just one title behind its traditional rival Barcelona, which holds the record with 13 titles. Real Madrid finished the match with ten players after their Brazilian star Eder Militao received a red card in the 87th minute. It is noteworthy that Real Madrid advanced to the final after overcoming rival Barcelona in the semifinals with a score of 3-2, while Athletic Bilbao reached the final after defeating Atletico Madrid 2-1 in the other semifinal match.
