The Egyptian Football Association has submitted an official complaint against its Senegalese counterpart to the match observer, security officials, the Confederation of African Football (CAF), and the International Football Federation (FIFA) before the kickoff of the teams' match in the second leg of the qualifiers for the World Cup. The official account of the Egyptian Football Association on social media (Facebook) stated on Tuesday evening that the Egyptian team faced racism after offensive banners targeting players, specifically team captain Mohamed Salah, appeared in the stadium stands. Furthermore, the fans terrorized the players by throwing bottles and stones at them during their warm-up, and Egyptian delegation buses were also attacked, resulting in shattered glass and some injuries and wounds. This was documented with photos and videos that were attached to the complaint. It is worth noting that Senegal, the African champion, repeated its victory over Egypt in a penalty shootout to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar on Tuesday. Repeating the final of the Africa Cup in Cameroon, Senegal won the penalty shootout 3-1 after the regular and extra time ended with a 1-0 victory for Senegal, thanks to a goal by Boulaye Dia in the third minute, resulting in a tie of 1-1 on aggregate after Egypt had won the first leg by the same scoreline. Mohamed Salah, Ahmed Sayed Zizo, and Mostafa Mohamed missed three penalties, while Amr El Solia scored the only penalty for Egypt. For Senegal, Ismaila Sarr, Bamba Dieng, and Sadio Mané scored, while Kalidou Koulibaly and Salio Ciss missed.
