In a recent development, a suspect in the murder of Jamal Ben Ismail was arrested by the Research and Intervention Unit of the Blida Police. According to the Algerian newspaper El-Bilad, which included a photograph of him, the suspect named Walid Zatara resides in the town of Wednesday in the eastern Blida province and appeared in a video during the assault on Jamal Ben Ismail in the area of Wednesday Nath Irethane.
The Blida Police's Research and Intervention Unit apprehended the suspect in a well-planned ambush in the city of Wednesday, while he was driving a utility vehicle with license plate number 15 coming from the capital. The Blida police transferred the suspect to the capital's police for further investigation into the case.
The murder incident has sparked shock and outrage in the country due to the accusations against the young man for allegedly starting fires in the forests of the Tizi Ouzou region, which resulted in the tragic deaths of about 69 individuals, including 28 military personnel.

In response, the Public Prosecutor's Office at the Wednesday Nath Irethane Court ordered an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident. A statement from the Public Prosecutor said, "The Public Prosecutor's Office has ordered the judicial police to investigate the circumstances surrounding this case to identify the perpetrators and bring them to justice for their severe punishment in accordance with the laws of the republic, ensuring that this heinous crime does not go unpunished. The public will be informed of the results."
