Piqué Achieves New Milestone with Barcelona

March 13, 2022, will remain a historic day for Spanish star Gerard Piqué, who made his 600th appearance as a center-back for his team Barcelona against Osasuna in La Liga. Piqué reached this impressive milestone after 14 years since his return to the club in 2008, following a professional stint in England with Manchester United, according to Spanish newspaper "Marca."

The Catalan player is known as a fierce rival to his competitor Real Madrid and is renowned for his sharp mockery of the team, often attacking them on social media. In February, Piqué surpassed his former teammate and defensive rock, Carles Puyol, in the number of appearances for Barcelona.

Most of Piqué’s matches have been in La Liga, where he played 387 games, followed by 122 matches in the Champions League and 65 matches in the Copa del Rey. He also participated in 16 additional matches in the domestic Super Cup, five matches in the Club World Cup, three matches in the Europa League, and two matches in the European Super Cup.

With Barcelona's victory over Osasuna by four goals on Sunday, Piqué has thus far won 411 matches with the Catalan giant, scoring 53 goals against opponents. Piqué has also won an astonishing 30 titles with Barcelona in all domestic, European, and international competitions, and this season he aims to win the Europa League, which is the only competition he has participated in but has not won.

Even at the age of 35, Piqué remains an undisputed key player for Barcelona. During the first leg against Turkish guest Galatasaray in the Europa League, coach Xavi initially decided to rest him but had to bring him on to secure the defense. Last summer, before dedicating his future to the club until 2024, Piqué stated, "The day I stop playing for Barcelona, I will leave football, and I will never play for another team."

It is worth mentioning that Piqué is in a relationship with famous singer Shakira, and they have two children together.
