Three U.S. officials revealed today, Friday, that an announcement is expected by next Monday regarding a new military aid package for Ukraine valued at $2.6 billion. This package may include air surveillance radars, anti-tank missiles, and fuel transport trucks to support Ukraine in its fight against Russia. They also anticipate that six types of munitions, including tank ammunition, will be on the list of equipment that could be finalized in the coming days. Additionally, they noted that there could be changes to the final amount of the package and its equipment.
The aid is also expected to include precision air munitions and bridge equipment that Ukraine could use to attack Russian positions, as well as recovery vehicles to assist heavy equipment such as tanks and additional munitions for the NASAMS air defense system that the U.S. and its allies have provided to Kyiv. The assistance consists of $2.1 billion in weapons aid derived from the Ukrainian Security Assistance Initiative, allowing President Joe Biden's administration to purchase weapons from the defense industry instead of U.S. stockpiles.
