Christian Pulisic ensured his team AC Milan ended the year with a strong performance by scoring a second-half goal to secure a 1-0 win against visitors Sassuolo in Serie A on Saturday. The American player netted the only goal of the match in the 59th minute, sending a shot over the head of Sassuolo keeper Andrea Consigli after receiving a through ball from Algerian Ismaël Bennacer.
Two goals by Milan were disallowed. The first was early in the match when Olivier Giroud, who was offside, sent a cross to Bennacer, while the second, scored by Rafael Leão after half an hour, was ruled out for offside in the buildup to the goal. Milan currently sits in third place with 36 points, reducing the gap with leaders Inter Milan to nine points after they drew 1-1 in Genoa on Friday.
