Indian Navy Prevents Somali Pirates from Using Cargo Ship

According to the International News Agency (ANI) on Saturday, Indian Navy officials reported that the navy prevented Somali pirates from using the cargo ship Roin for piracy activities. The report stated that a warship from the navy intercepted a large Maltese-flagged cargo ship on Friday, acting in accordance with international law. It added that the ship fired upon the Indian warship. The EU Naval Force stated on Thursday that Somali pirates who seized the Roin in December might have used it to capture a Bangladeshi-flagged cargo ship off the coast of Somalia last week.
