Villarreal, competing in La Liga, announced last night that they have re-signed their former player Eric Bailly on a free transfer. The Ivorian national team defender will remain with the team until 2025. Bailly, 29, began his football career at Espanyol and played for Villarreal from 2015 to 2016 before moving to Manchester United in June 2016. The center-back joined Turkish club Beşiktaş on a permanent contract last September after spending the previous season on loan at French club Olympique Marseille, following a decline in his playing opportunities at Manchester United due to injuries. Beşiktaş mutually agreed to terminate Bailly's contract after just three months, during which he made only five appearances for the club.
