Barcelona's management has reached out to Spanish coach Mikel Arteta, currently managing Arsenal, to gauge his interest in coaching the club next season. Xavi Hernandez, the current coach of Barcelona, has officially announced his departure from the team at the end of the current season.
According to the Spanish network "Relief," Arteta is one of the coaches that impresses Joan Laporta, the president of Barcelona, and Deco, the sporting director, sees him as a potential candidate to lead the club next season. The report indicates that Barcelona recognizes Arteta's current contributions with Arsenal, especially since he fits the profile they are seeking to replace Xavi.
The report clarified that "despite Arteta's own statement claiming that rumors linking him to Barcelona are false, we can confirm that Barcelona's management has contacted those close to the Spanish coach to understand his stance, and then reached out to the coach himself."
Mikel Arteta is under contract with Arsenal until the summer of 2025, and he is having a fantastic season with the Gunners, currently sitting in third place in the Premier League table with 61 points, two points behind Liverpool at the top and one point behind Manchester City in second place.
