Education Committee Discusses Demands of Contract Professors at the Lebanese University

The National Education, Higher Education, and Culture Committee held a session chaired by MP Hassan Murad, with the attendance of the committee rapporteur MP Edgar Traboulsi and MPs Bilal Hashimi, Asaad Dergham, Halima Qaqour, Adnan Traboulsi, Antoine Habshi, Ali Khreis, Amin Sherri, and Ibrahim Moussaoui. The session was also attended by the President of the Lebanese University Bassam Badran and the General Director of the Ministry of Education Imad Ashqar. The agenda included the following items: 1 - Continuing the recommendations from the workshop concerning the educational sector. 2 - Discussing the issue of contract professors at the Lebanese University. The committee postponed discussion of the first item to a subsequent session and heard from the President of the Lebanese University about the issues and demands of contract professors from various perspectives. The President of the University announced, "The issue of dues is on the way to being resolved. The committee will continue to work with the Ministry of Education and the university presidency to address various other issues such as the file concerning contract renewal and others."
