Syrian-Iranian Statement: Strengthening Cooperation Based on Strategic Relations and Rejecting

Syria and Iran, in a joint statement at the conclusion of Iranian President Ibrahim Raisi's visit, invited by Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral relations based on the fraternal and strategic ties between the two countries. They underscored the necessity of respecting national sovereignty and independence and preserving the territorial integrity of both nations in accordance with the goals and principles of the United Nations Charter. Both sides condemned all forms of illicit military presence on Syrian territory, which they characterized as occupation.

They expressed their readiness and desire to take all measures to develop commercial and economic relations between the two nations through existing mechanisms, including the joint high committee. They also reaffirmed their cooperation regarding the reconstruction of the Syrian Arab Republic.

Moreover, they welcomed positive political developments in the region, particularly the constructive communication between Syria and Arab countries and the Iranian-Saudi agreement that took place under Chinese sponsorship. They considered this agreement an important step towards further positive developments that serve the stability of the Middle East. They stressed the necessity of solidarity and cohesion among regional countries to confront challenges and provide security, welfare, and tranquility through internal regional cooperation.

Additionally, they announced their support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people in resisting occupation and establishing an independent, unified, and sovereign state with Jerusalem as its capital.
