Morocco: Bank Official Embezzles Nearly One Million Dollars and Disappears

The Moroccan newspaper "Al-Masa" reported that "a responsible employee at a bank branch in the city of Fes, in the far northeast of the kingdom, embezzled nearly one billion centimes (around one million dollars) and has disappeared." The local newspaper noted that the robbery is shrouded in mystery.

According to "Al-Masa," the incident has prompted a response from the central services of the targeted bank branch, leading to the arrival of a mixed committee of senior officials from the central administration to investigate the matter. The committee has conducted a thorough investigation into this controversial case, with a detailed audit of all the financial operations and transfers made by the bank official.

It was found that the employee exploited the funds in his custody to carry out financial transfers to his own account and to other accounts, which are believed to belong to some of his relatives and acquaintances. The newspaper highlighted that these operations were carried out in ways that were deemed cunning and deceitful, often unnoticed by some officials responsible for monitoring all financial transactions.
