The United Arab Emirates expressed its welcome for the United Nations General Assembly vote, with a significant majority, in favor of granting Palestine full membership. It considers that "the vote is a historic step toward peace and achieving a two-state solution." The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a statement, "The UAE, which presented the resolution for Palestine's eligibility to obtain full UN membership during an emergency special session of the General Assembly as the President of the Arab Group for the month of May, remains steadfast in its commitment to promoting peace and justice, safeguarding the rights of the brotherly Palestinian people, and establishing a sovereign independent Palestinian state, in accordance with international legitimacy and relevant agreements aimed at ending the Palestinian-Israeli conflict." It also noted that "the UAE has always called on the international community to enhance all regional and international efforts to achieve peace and a two-state solution."
