Lazio Announces the Appointment of Tudor as Team Coach

Lazio, competing in the Italian Serie A, announced on Monday the appointment of Igor Tudor as the team's coach following Maurizio Sarri's resignation. Italian media reported that Tudor, 45, has signed an 18-month contract with the club based in Rome. Tudor's most recent coaching experience was with Olympique Marseille in France, where he left in June of last year after leading the team to a third-place finish. He has also coached Udinese and Hellas Verona in Serie A. The former Croatian international played as a defensive midfielder for Juventus from 1998 to 2007. Sarri resigned on March 13, and Lazio's assistant coach Giovanni Martusciello took charge, leading the team to a 3-2 victory over Frosinone last Saturday. Lazio currently sits in ninth place in the standings, four points away from the European competition qualifying spots.
