Historic France Goal Scorer Decides to Retire from International Football

The all-time top scorer for the French national team, Olivier Giroud, announced today, Friday, that he will retire from international football after the UEFA Euro 2024 in Germany this summer. Giroud (37 years old), who has played 131 international matches and scored 57 goals, stated in an interview with the sports newspaper "L'Équipe" that the European Championship will be his last tournament. He added: "To be honest, I have to say this will be my last tournament with the French national team. Of course, I will miss it a lot. But I think after the Euros, it will be time to stop with the national team and make way for the youth." The AC Milan striker, who will join Los Angeles FC in the United States after his contract with his current club ends on June 30, remarked that he feels capable of continuing his football career for another two years, but added, "As for the French national team, in my opinion, it will be over."
