The State Security Directorate reported that "after receiving information from the Akkar regional directorate regarding a group of individuals smuggling Syrians across the border into Lebanon and then via the sea in an illegal manner, investigations revealed that some had remained in the country and did not leave. The identities of the smugglers were established, and based on the direction of the public prosecutor in the north, a quick operation was conducted resulting in the arrest of the Lebanese national (Z.T.).
During the investigation, it was found that this group was engaged in illegally smuggling Syrians to Lebanon and then via the sea to abroad. It was also discovered that there was a warrant for his arrest in absentia for the crime of human trafficking." The statement added that "after obtaining the judicial directive, appropriate legal measures were taken against him, and efforts are ongoing to arrest the remaining members of the group."
