Developments in Gaza and the Lebanon Crisis Between Macron and Bin Salman

French President Emmanuel Macron called Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman to discuss developments in Gaza and the recognition of the Palestinian state, in addition to the ongoing events in Lebanon. Both sides expressed concern over the deteriorating humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip and rejected the Israeli invasion of Rafah. They emphasized the need for an immediate ceasefire to protect civilians and ensure access to humanitarian aid, according to a statement from the Elysee Palace. They also affirmed their commitment to continue efforts to establish stability in the region and to de-escalate tensions between Israel and Lebanon along the Blue Line, in accordance with UN Resolution 1701, reiterating their historical support for Lebanon's security and stability. They highlighted the importance of Lebanon overcoming its institutional crisis to elect a president who can lead the country towards necessary reforms.
