U.S. Military Destroys 4 Drones Launched by Houthis

The U.S. Central Command announced on its official X account the destruction of several drones in areas controlled by the Houthis in Yemen. The command stated, "On May 22, U.S. Central Command forces successfully intercepted 4 drones in regions under the control of Iran-backed Houthis in Yemen." It added, "These drones were determined to pose an imminent threat to the United States, coalition forces, and commercial vessels in the area." The statement concluded by affirming that "these actions are being taken to protect freedom of navigation and make international waters safer and more secure for U.S., coalition, and commercial vessels." The Houthis have intensified their attacks on ships in the Red Sea and the Gulf of Aden, calling on Israel to stop the war in Gaza, which has resulted in the deaths of over 35,000 Palestinians.
