French football legend and former Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane is preparing to return to coaching, with Spanish reports revealing the date he has set for this move. Zidane left his position at Real Madrid in May 2021 and has since not been linked with any club or national team, although he was close to taking the helm of Paris Saint-Germain in the summer of 2022 following Mauricio Pochettino's departure. He was also linked with the France national team before Didier Deschamps extended his contract after the 2022 World Cup.
According to the Spanish newspaper "Mundo Deportivo," Zidane has decided to return to coaching at the start of the upcoming season, aiming to lead one of the major teams in Europe. The newspaper added that Zidane does not rule out taking on the Real Madrid role for a third time after having secured 11 titles with the club, including three consecutive UEFA Champions League titles.
The 51-year-old Zidane will be ready to lead Real Madrid for a third stint if Carlo Ancelotti does not renew his contract, which is set to expire at the end of the current season. "Mundo Deportivo" noted that although Zidane's last departure from Real Madrid was somewhat surprising, the French coach continues to maintain an excellent relationship with the club's president, Florentino Perez.
