The Works Committee Discusses the Status of the Transport Authority: Open Tomorrow or Face Legal Action

The Public Works, Transport, Energy, and Water Committee held a session at the Parliament, chaired by MP Saji Attiyeh, with a significant number of MPs and representatives from relevant ministries in attendance. Following the session, Attiyeh stated: "Our meeting today was a result of the cessation of operations at a public facility, namely the Transport Authority. Citizens have been suffering for a while, and we are in urgent need of funds, hence we clarified many issues. We found ourselves facing a company that has been operating for years without a tender and without a contract on a pricing schedule whose structure is unknown to us. We were taken aback, and after extensive research, we arrived at two conclusions: First, the establishment of a fact-finding committee headed by MP Ibrahim Mneimneh to follow up on the details of the contract where the root of the disaster lies. Second, how to facilitate work. There will be a legal petition followed up on to pressure the judiciary. We are looking for an alternative to take the place of the current company, Inkript." Attiyeh emphasized that "these are rights for the people and an exploitation of our expertise. This is a matter we cannot take lightly; we are united and cooperating to continue researching this subject, as there is harm to the state and the people. If the company (Inkript) does not begin work tomorrow, my advice to them is to open the Transport Authority, or we will resort to legal action."
