"The Kataeb Party: Lebanon is Turning into a Country Living Outside the Constitution!"

The Kataeb political bureau stated in a statement today, Tuesday, following a meeting chaired by party leader MP Sami Gemayel, that "military operations are expanding day by day to include countries under the banner of 'unifying arenas', the most dangerous of which are taking place in Yemen, Iraq, and Syria, resembling a wide regional war dragging the whole world into calamities, where Lebanon appears to be the weakest link as it is held hostage, robbed of its decision, and its institutions are at the mercy of Hezbollah, which has become the sole authority dictating the terms for local and international initiatives."

The Kataeb political bureau rejected "the statements of the Prime Minister made after his meeting with international emissaries seeking to spare Lebanon the worst, as he officially linked Lebanon's fate to the ongoing war in the region, conditioning the future of the Lebanese people on the end of the war in Gaza and issues that are neither theirs nor for which they have the capacity to bear the consequences alone."

It noted that "the response to laws is a close competency of the President of the Republic, while the government was granted a legal authority that allows it to withdraw laws from discussion in the Parliament if it objects to them, as the Prime Minister is allowed to challenge laws before the Constitutional Council. What is the reluctance to use these two authorities and the derivation of others that violate the position and powers of the President of the Republic other than a blatant breach of all laws."

It believed that "Lebanon is gradually turning into a country living outside the constitution and laws, based on a disruptive plan that pushes the country into chaos under the slogan that circumstances justify prohibitions, which has established a jungle law allowing for all violations resulting primarily from the obstruction of electing a President of the Republic and reproducing authority without which the state cannot function."

The Kataeb political bureau held "those who keep the key to electing the President of the Republic in their pocket responsible for the sins committed against the country and its people."

It considered that "the Speaker of Parliament's statement about there being a single candidate, his candidate, reflects a continuation of imposition logic and a decision made in confrontation with the Lebanese and the blocs that extended their hands to meet by presenting two names that received significant votes," calling for "abandoning singularity and monopolization and moving towards meeting the Lebanese to restore the nation, its decision, and its sovereignty."

It pointed out the "exposure of the Lebanese to humiliating instances of homelessness on the roads due to unprecedented neglect and disdain from the remnants of a power that resorts to throwing accusations to escape its responsibilities in the simplest matters, such as opening drainage channels and rehabilitating roads in anticipation of disasters before they happen instead of lamenting over assessing damage."

It viewed that "blaming climate change in the midst of winter and merely warning and alerting through social media while calling for compensations has become a trait of a group that prefers media displays over quietly striving to save the Lebanese from what their own hands have committed."
