Arrest of 5 Antiquities Traffickers in Babylon

The Federal Intelligence and Investigations Agency of the Iraqi Ministry of Interior announced today, Wednesday, the arrest of five suspects involved in the trade of antiquities in Babylon Province. The agency mentioned in a statement received by "Baghdad Today" that its organized crime units in Babylon continue to monitor lawbreakers and traffickers of Iraqi antiquities. Through intensified efforts, they gathered intelligence about a group's intention to sell valuable antiquities pieces.

Immediately, legal approval was obtained, and an intelligence team was formed. In a well-planned sting operation, five suspects were apprehended, and they were found in possession of 12 antique pieces made of gold and one antique jar. The agency added that a formal seizure report was organized for the suspicious items, and the suspects were referred to the relevant authorities in preparation for their appearance before the judiciary.
