Significant Political Development: Split of 11 MPs from Al-Halbousi's Party

MP Ziyad Al-Janabi and 10 other MPs announced their withdrawal from the "Progress" party, led by Mohammad Al-Halbousi, marking a significant political development at this time. They have formed a bloc called "The Initiative" to address the political crisis concerning the presidency of the parliament.

A knowledgeable political source stated that the defectors include 10 MPs and a member of the provincial council, all of whom were previously part of the Progress party, delivering a strong blow that caused Progress to lose a third of its members in the council.

This withdrawal is expected to facilitate the process of electing a new parliament president, while the situation remains unclear amidst the fragmented stance of the coordinating framework regarding the only two candidates for parliament president, Mahmoud Al-Mashhadani and Salem Al-Essawi, complicating the legal process for potentially opening the nomination for new names.
