Social media has been buzzing with a video of Sheikh Ahmed El-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Elders Council, revealing his lifelong wish for the first time. The video, which has gone viral over the past few hours, comes from a scholarly meeting held by the Sheikh at the Center for Quranic Studies (PSQ) in Jakarta, Indonesia, where he shared his deep aspiration to establish a center for teaching the Quran to children. Sheikh Ahmed El-Tayeb stated: "My ultimate goal when I retire from Al-Azhar is to open a place for teaching the Quran. I hope that God grants me this wish before death." He added: "I am willing to leave my position as a Sheikh and sit on a mat to fulfill my wish of teaching students and helping them memorize the Quran." During the same meeting, the Grand Imam discussed the importance of moderation and justice, emphasizing that if Muslims do not apply these principles today, it will be difficult to implement the teachings of goodness found in the Quran.
