The Arab Chess Federation, headed by Sheikh Khalid bin Hamid Al-Qasimi, has approved the schedule of tournaments for the current season of 2024. The competitions committee of the federation, based in the Emirate of Sharjah, has agreed to host the Arab Individual Chess Championship for age categories from 8 to 20 years for both males and females in the city of Sousse, Tunisia. It will also host the Arab Club Championship for Chess Teams 2024 in the city of Salalah, Oman, and the Arab Individual Championships for men and women, along with rapid and blitz tournaments, in the Emirate of Sharjah.
It was affirmed that "the approval of these countries to host these tournaments came after reviewing the files submitted by them by the technical committee and the competitions committee, which took into account a wide range of conditions and criteria that must be met by the host countries for the various categories of the Arab Championships." Additionally, it was pointed out that the current season includes several training courses alongside these tournaments.
Today, the Lebanese Chess Federation, with support from the Arab Chess Federation, is organizing a course for the qualification and training of Arab international referees (federation referee) accredited by FIDE.
