Kai Havertz scored a late goal to put Arsenal at the top of the Premier League despite a major error from goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale in the first half, resulting in a 2-1 victory over Brentford on Saturday. This win marked Arsenal's eighth consecutive victory in the competition.
The difficult victory temporarily placed Arsenal at the top with 64 points, one point ahead of Liverpool and two points ahead of Manchester City, ahead of the two teams' clash at Anfield on Sunday.
A brilliant header from Declan Rice, following a cross from Ben White, gave Arsenal the lead after 19 minutes. However, Yoane Wissa equalized just before halftime when he intercepted a shot from Ramsdale, causing the ball to go into the net.
Ramsdale, starting today instead of the loaned out David Raya from Brentford, redeemed himself by saving two dangerous chances from Ivan Toney and Nathan Collins before Havertz scored the winning header in the 86th minute from another excellent assist by White. Brentford remains in 15th place, five points clear of the relegation zone.
