With the widening scope of confrontations between Hezbollah and Israel, which reached the Nabatieh area outside the scope of Resolution 1701 yesterday, attention is turning to the speech that Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah will deliver next Friday afternoon. This will be his first public appearance since the outbreak of the Gaza war on the seventh of this month. It appeared from the positions announced by caretaker Prime Minister Najib Mikati yesterday that there are "no reassurances" that can be provided by the "party" to prevent Lebanon from slipping into that war.
What are the expectations regarding Nasrallah's address during the event that the "party" will hold to honor its members who have fallen in the confrontations in the south so far? According to information from "Nidaa al-Watan," Nasrallah's anticipated speech will include "a clear position regarding the American military build-up in the Eastern Mediterranean, the direct military intervention in the ongoing war in Gaza, and the American military role in what is happening on the southern borders."
Nasrallah will also send "multiple messages to the American side, and his position will not be calming but rather escalating, as he will speak on behalf of the entire axis, not just Hezbollah." In preparation for the Secretary-General's speech, the "Ahed" website affiliated with the "party" published a clip that recalled previous statements by Nasrallah that align with current circumstances. It stated: "We defeated Israel in 2000, and the people of Gaza have defeated it several times. The Israel we defeated in 2006, and the Israel we defeated yesterday, is weaker than a spider's web, and it will not be anything else... We do not fear war, nor do we shy away from it. We will confront it if it is imposed on us, and we will prevail in it, God willing."
