Fenerbahçe, a competitor in the Turkish Süper Lig, announced yesterday, Thursday, its signing of striker Edin Džeko in a free transfer from "Inter Milan." The 37-year-old forward, who participated in Inter's loss in the Champions League final to "Manchester City" earlier this month, signed a two-year contract with the Istanbul-based club. Džeko's contract with Inter ends next Friday. He scored 31 goals in 101 matches since joining Inter from Roma in 2021 and won two Coppa Italia titles and one domestic Super Cup. He also won the Premier League and Bundesliga titles with Manchester City and Wolfsburg, tallying over 300 goals in his club career. Džeko is the all-time leading scorer for the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team, with 64 goals in 129 matches. Džeko wrote on Instagram, "Goodbye to Inter. It has been two wonderful years. It has been a fantastic journey. We part ways now but thank you for everything." Fenerbahçe finished second in the Süper Lig last season, behind champions Galatasaray, and last won the title in 2014.
