The former Italian star, Antonio Cassano, stated that Argentine coach Mauricio Pochettino may not have a long tenure with Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) following a report by the Spanish newspaper "Marca." The Parisian giant recently suffered a heavy defeat against their hosts, Stade Rennais, with a score of two to zero, marking PSG's first loss in Ligue 1 this season, despite the participation of their star players: Argentine Lionel Messi, Brazilian Neymar, and the club's top scorer, Kylian Mbappe.
According to the newspaper, this loss has cast further doubt on Pochettino's methods and tactics on the pitch, raising questions about whether he is truly capable of leading the team to win the Champions League, which is the big dream for PSG's management and fans. In a television interview, Cassano expressed that “Pochettino will have a short life at Paris Saint-Germain,” adding, “Some have told me negative things about him, and I've heard some bad rumors as well.”
He continued, “He is a great man, but as a coach, he lacks good tactics even for a minute; he even asks players for advice on how to plan on the pitch.” Cassano mentioned that he could hardly believe what he had heard, as Pochettino has not previously managed top stars and is struggling with that. He suggested that if things continue this way, it is likely that French coach Zinedine Zidane will be the next coach of Paris Saint-Germain.
Earlier reports had indicated that the French Football Federation is interested in Zidane taking over the coaching of the "Les Bleus" national team after the upcoming World Cup in Qatar. Other reports also mentioned that Juventus is interested in appointing "Zizou" to lead the "Old Lady." However, according to Cassano, PSG might be the most favored to secure the services of the former Real Madrid coach.
Cassano added, "When Zidane took over at the Madrid giant, the team was filled with stars, and he was able to manage them and led them to win the Champions League three consecutive times." If managing stars effectively is what Paris Saint-Germain needs to win the Champions League, it is certain that Zidane would be the right man for the job, according to Cassano.
