British media and social media platforms have been buzzing in recent hours that Egyptian star Mohamed Salah, winger for Liverpool FC, has tested positive for COVID-19. The English network "Ferm" reported that Salah was infected, as revealed by the first test conducted among Liverpool players before the match against Tottenham on Sunday in the Premier League.
It was added that Salah will undergo a second test on Saturday morning to determine his final status following indications of infection from the first test, and based on that, the possibility of postponing the match between Tottenham and Liverpool will be discussed.
Meanwhile, the spokesperson for Liverpool FC clarified the situation regarding Salah's potential COVID-19 infection, stating: "There is nothing to indicate that Salah has COVID-19, and it is not right to speculate on such health matters."
He also mentioned, "Salah has not shown any symptoms, and therefore the club has not issued any statement about the matter."
Salah participated in the 3-1 victory against Newcastle last Thursday in the Premier League, scoring the second goal in the match. He currently leads the Premier League scoring chart with 15 goals, six goals ahead of his Liverpool teammate Diogo Jota and Leicestershire's Jamie Vardy. Liverpool is currently in second place in the Premier League with 40 points, just one point behind leaders Manchester City.
