The Golden Pig Award, established by producer Antonio Ricci in 1996, is a satirical Italian award given to the worst athlete, politician, and media figure in Italy. The winner accepts it purely in jest, and it is presented by journalist Valerio Staffelli through the program "Striscia la Notizia."
Today, Swedish star Zlatan Ibrahimovic, forward for AC Milan, received the Golden Pig Award after his participation in Milan's 3-0 defeat to Inter Milan in the 23rd round of the Italian league. Notably, this is the second consecutive year that Zlatan Ibrahimovic has received the Golden Pig Award, having previously won it in February 2020. Prominent past recipients of this award include Italian footballer Alessandro Del Piero, Juventus goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon, coach Fabio Capello, and former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi. While some have gladly accepted the award, others have refused it, and some, like Mike Bongiorno, have even destroyed it.
