Biden Requests Congress to Extend "State of Emergency for Lebanon"

U.S. President Joe Biden sent a message to congressional leaders emphasizing the need to extend the state of emergency regarding Lebanon. Biden explained that "some ongoing activities, such as the continued transfer of weapons from Iran to Hezbollah, undermine Lebanon's sovereignty." He stated that these operations contribute to political and economic instability in the region and pose a national threat while undermining U.S. national security. In this context, Chairman of the U.S. House Foreign Affairs Committee Michael McCaul confirmed through the official Twitter page of the House Foreign Affairs Committee that Iran's transfer of advanced drones to terrorist proxies and malicious actors in Lebanon and Yemen undermines U.S. national security and destabilizes the Middle East. He added that his legislation to "stop Iranian drones" will prevent the spread of dangerous Iranian unmanned aerial vehicles.
