Civil protection forces in Tunisia successfully rescued a 17-year-old student on Tuesday who fell into a 14-meter-deep well in the area of Naaçan, affiliated with the Ben Arous Governorate. Tunisian media reported that the student, named Malika Hassnaoui, was trying to escape from a mentally unstable individual while returning home when she slipped and fell into an abandoned well.
The media stated that civil protection was immediately notified and arrived at the scene of the incident. After a rescue operation that lasted approximately two hours, they successfully pulled the student out alive. She was transported to Charles Nicolle Hospital in the capital, Tunis, where she is currently receiving medical care for some bruises and fractures.
The National Guard confirmed that an investigation has been opened to determine the cause of the incident, urging increased caution, particularly regarding the closure of abandoned wells.
