The Palestinian national team began its campaign in the qualifiers for the 2023 AFC Asian Cup with a hard-fought victory over its Mongolian guest, while Yemen drew with the Philippines. Palestinian striker Adi Dabbagh scored the "Fida'i" goal from a penalty in the dying moments of the match, in the 85th minute, which took place today, Wednesday, at the "MFF Football Centre."
With this win, Palestine earned three points and topped Group B, ahead of Yemen and the Philippines, who drew with each other without goals. A total of 24 teams are participating in the 2023 AFC Asian Cup qualifiers, divided into six groups, with the group winners and five best second-placed teams qualifying to join the 13 teams that qualified earlier for the 2023 Asian Cup finals: Australia, Oman, Iran, Iraq, Vietnam, Japan, South Korea, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Syria, the UAE, Lebanon, and China, which was initially set to host the tournament.
