Antonio Conte, the head coach of Inter Milan, confirmed that winning the Italian league title with the Nerazzurri is the best response to fans who called for his departure at the end of 2020. Conte stated in his remarks to "Sky Sports Italy": "I have been lucky to navigate some important paths with Trapattoni and I feel that I perhaps wouldn't have done well as a player or a coach if I hadn’t worked with him."
He added, "Those who played for Inter or worked as coaches for the club know it's a complex situation; you have to understand the different dynamics. Sometimes you play long balls, but you never lose your identity, and I have never lost my identity."
He continued, "I believe that winning the Scudetto is appreciated by those who initially turned their noses up at me because of my past. I came to Inter to bring it back to winning ways within three years, and I did that."
Conte faced a fierce campaign against him and calls for his departure in late November after failing to advance from the Champions League group stage. In this regard, Conte remarked: "I am still convinced that many fans from rival teams were behind that."
He added, "We focused on the present, which was important to achieve this and bring Inter back to winning after many years. There are four matches left, and since I have more experience now, I want to enjoy this moment because in the past I put myself in difficulties and didn't enjoy it enough."
He concluded, "There will be time to talk with the management to understand the situation and try to organize ourselves to see what comes of it. However, I want to enjoy this with the players, the fans, and the club because we all won, and I don’t want anyone to be upset with what we achieved."
