The U.S. State Department condemned the recent Houthi attack on the UAE, stating that the Houthis continue to launch attacks that threaten civilians. State Department spokesperson Ned Price tweeted: "While the Israeli president is visiting the United Arab Emirates to build bridges and enhance stability across the region, the Houthis continue to carry out attacks that threaten civilians."
The UAE Ministry of Defense announced on Sunday night that it had intercepted and destroyed a ballistic missile launched by Houthi terrorist militias towards the country. They clarified that there were no casualties from the attack, as the remnants of the ballistic missile fell outside populated areas.
Moreover, they added that the air forces and the coalition command supporting legitimacy in Yemen successfully identified and destroyed the launch site and platform. Additionally, footage was released showing the destruction of the missile launch site in al-Jawf, Yemen, confirming their readiness to respond to any threats.
It is worth noting that Abu Dhabi had announced the previous Monday that its defenses had intercepted and destroyed two ballistic missiles launched by Iranian-backed Houthis, one week after three people were killed in a drone and missile attack on Abu Dhabi.
Regarding terrorist attacks, the White House announced last Tuesday that U.S. National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan met with the ambassadors of Saudi Arabia and the UAE to discuss Houthi terrorist attacks. The statement mentioned that Sullivan discussed these attacks with Saudi Ambassador Princess Reema bint Bandar bin Sultan and UAE Ambassador Yousef Al Otaiba. Information also indicated that the topic of redesignating the Houthis as a terrorist organization was brought up for discussion.
