ElBaradei Proposes Arab Meeting with Putin

Mohamed ElBaradei, former Vice President of Egypt, suggested an Arab meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin following a meeting between Senegalese President Macky Sall and Putin to discuss grain exports from Ukraine. On his Twitter account, ElBaradei shared a previous tweet in which he stated on May 29: "In my opinion, it is crucial for a high-level delegation from Africa and Arab countries to head to Russia and Ukraine to ensure the opening of ports in both countries to export food supplies to Africa and the Middle East under international humanitarian law to protect civilians, away from any political considerations." ElBaradei commented on his tweet with a new proposal, saying: "Today, the President of the African Union (Senegalese President) Macky Sall met with President Putin to discuss the issue of grain exports from Ukraine; perhaps it is also appropriate for this to be followed by an Arab meeting with the Russian president to reach a solution that helps avoid a food crisis."
