Two Killed in Clashes Between Government and Opposition in Senegal

Clashes between youth and police resulted in two deaths in Dakar, southern Senegal, due to confrontations between the government and the opposition, according to the French news agency "AFP". "AFP" reported that Husseinou Lee, a spokesman for the opposition party "Pastef," stated that "three opposition figures were arrested," adding that "opposition leader Ousmane Sonko and Dakar Mayor Barthélemy Dias, a strong critic of President Macky Sall, were prevented by security forces from leaving their homes." A Red Cross official told "AFP" that "a person in Dakar died when a projectile caused a fire in a location where he was present," and local media along with the opposition reported a second death in Casamance.
