The African Football Confederation is investigating the case of Gabon national team player Gilor Kanga, who claims to have been born in 1990 while documents indicate that his mother passed away in 1985. He will need to clarify the discrepancies in the information during a disciplinary committee meeting. The Nigerian newspaper "T.S.I." reported that the professional player, who plays for Serbian club Red Star, will attend the African Confederation's disciplinary committee meeting to explain how he was born five years after his mother's death. This issue arose when the Democratic Republic of the Congo Federation filed a complaint against the Gabon national team, accusing it of falsifying official documents for Gilor Kanga, claiming he holds Congolese nationality rather than Gabonese. It is noteworthy that Gilor Kanga participated in the qualifiers for the Africa Cup of Nations "Cameroon 2022" representing the Gabon team, leading them to qualify from Group B alongside Gambia at the expense of the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Angola. This situation has prompted the Congolese Federation to demand the exclusion of Gabon from participating in next year’s Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon, seeking to replace them instead.
