Many stars from the art scene in Egypt, along with a large number of fans of the Egyptian artist Samir Ghanem, escorted his body to his final resting place. Among the artists present at the funeral were Mervat Amin, Youssra, Samah Anwar, Mounir Makram, media personalities Bousi Shalaby and Amr El Lathy, director Enas El-Dghidi, and Ashraf Zaki, head of the acting professions union. Also in attendance were artist Samir Sabry, singer Mohamed Hamaki, Rogina, Bishop Botros Daniel, Rami Sabry, Hanaa El-Shorbagy, and Amira Mokhtar, the daughter of the late artist Ragaa El-Giddawy, along with many other stars. Culture Minister Enas Abdel Dayem also participated in the funeral proceedings.
The Egyptian comedic artist Samir Ghanem passed away yesterday, Thursday, at the age of 84, following a battle with complications from COVID-19 and a deterioration in his kidney condition. The funeral prayer was held for Samir Ghanem's body after the Friday prayers at Al-Moshir Tantawy Mosque in the Fifth Settlement area of Cairo, after which the body was transferred to the family graves (Al-Wafa and Al-Amal) in Nasr City.
