Danny Murphy, a Liverpool legend, believes that Egyptian star Mohamed Salah is not receiving the appreciation he deserves at Anfield, despite his outstanding performance this season with Liverpool. Murphy, a former Liverpool midfielder, expressed his hope for the renewal of the 29-year-old star’s contract.
Murphy stated in comments to talkSPORT: "He has broken many records and consistently scores such wonderful goals, he is doing well enough that you somewhat expect this, which is the highest praise I can offer him." He added: "Mohamed Salah is still not appreciated enough; he will receive the proper recognition when he leaves."
He continued: "He has scored so many goals and broken numerous records, even though he does not play as a central striker." Salah's contract ends in 2023, and although negotiations are ongoing, he has not yet signed a renewed contract.
Murphy continued: "I just hope he renews his contract because I see no letup in his hunger and desire, considering the way he plays, his speed, how he dribbles past defenses, and his desire to score goals." He remarked: "He doesn’t seem like a player who would move to a less competitive league for money."
Murphy concluded his comments: "You hear him talk and say he wants to achieve this and wants to break that; we will wait and see, but I hope we can keep him." Salah scored his 150th goal for Liverpool against Norwich City last Saturday during Premier League's Matchweek 26.
