Houthi Attacks on the Agenda of the Arab League Today at UAE's Request

An extraordinary session of the Arab League Council at the level of permanent representatives will convene today, Sunday, chaired by Kuwait, to discuss the terrorist events that have targeted the United Arab Emirates. Abu Dhabi requested an extraordinary session through an official memorandum, which was circulated by the League's General Secretariat to Arab countries and supported by Kuwait and several other Arab states.

The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, strongly condemned the terrorist attack by the Houthis on civilian areas and facilities within UAE territory, emphasizing that the League stands with the UAE in confronting these operations, which seek to destabilize the security and stability of nations in pursuit of external agendas.

Anwar Gargash, the diplomatic advisor to the UAE President, confirmed that his country will not hesitate to defend its sovereignty and national security, and it has the legal and moral right to respond and prevent any aggression against its territory. This came during his meeting on Saturday with U.S. Special Envoy for Yemen, Tim Lenderking, who conveyed U.S. solidarity with the UAE against the Houthi terrorist attack.

Gargash stressed the necessity of the international community taking a firm stand against these hostile and terrorist acts that threaten international peace and security, clarifying that the actions of the terrorist militia constitute a blatant aggression, according to the Emirati news agency WAM. He added that the Security Council's unanimous condemnation of the terrorist attacks carried out by Houthi militias against civil facilities in Abu Dhabi represents a serious international position regarding the aggressive behavior of these militias and their encroachment on the security of the region and the Yemeni people, as well as their ongoing threat to international maritime navigation.

He pointed out that reclassifying the Houthis as a terrorist group strengthens the international diplomatic pressure aimed at finding a solution to the Yemeni crisis and undermining Houthi obstinacy, as reality confirms that the Houthis have never honored any agreements or commitments and will not do so without clear international pressure.

Abu Dhabi Police confirmed that a fire broke out last Monday morning, leading to an explosion in three fuel tankers in the Musaffah ICAD 3 area near ADNOC storage tanks. The incident resulted in the deaths of three people and injuries to six others. Additionally, a minor fire incident occurred in the new construction area at Abu Dhabi International Airport. According to Reuters, the Houthi militia claimed responsibility for the terrorist attack.
