Arrival of the First Batch of Egyptian Soldiers Detained in Sudan to Cairo

Egyptian media reported that the first batch of Egyptian soldiers detained in Sudan has arrived in Cairo. It was noted that a second batch is expected to arrive in the coming hours. The Red Crescent had contacted the Sudanese Foreign Ministry to assist in the transportation of the Egyptian soldiers. The channel "Al-Hadath" mentioned that the airport was under the control of the Sudanese army, and there were no clashes at the time of the soldiers' handover. According to a statement from the Sudanese Foreign Ministry, "The Egyptian military personnel detained by the Rapid Support Forces in Merowe were undergoing training with the Sudanese army." The Sudanese Rapid Support Forces had previously announced in a statement that they "would transfer the Egyptian soldiers who were at Merowe Airport at the onset of the clashes to the capital, Khartoum." They reassured the families and the government of Egypt that the soldiers present at the Merowe military base were all safe, receiving necessary care, and would be handed over when circumstances allowed according to the situation in the country.
