Burundi Police Arrest Former Prime Minister Bunyoni

The Ministry of Justice in Burundi (Central Africa) announced on Sunday in a statement that "former Prime Minister Alain-Guillaume Bunyoni has been arrested." The statement, signed by Prosecutor Sylvestre Nyandwi and published by the Ministry of Justice, indicated that "Alain-Guillaume Bunyoni is currently in police custody," although it did not specify the location of his detention or the charges he faces. Nyandwi stated that Bunyoni was arrested in Bujumbura, the capital of Burundi. Meanwhile, the country's Human Rights Committee tweeted that its representatives visited Bunyoni, noting that he had not been subjected to any abuse.
