UN: Sudanese Women Face Daily Rape

The United Nations announced today, Monday, that more than 53 women and girls in Sudan have been subjected to sexual violence during the fighting between the army and the Rapid Support Forces since mid-April. UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Volker Turk stated that his office has received reports of sexual violence against at least 53 women and girls in the Sudanese conflict. "Between 18 and 20 women were raped in a single attack," Turk was quoted by Reuters as saying.
