Chinese Defense Ministry spokesperson Tan Kefei stated in a press conference, "The two countries will cooperate in implementing global security initiatives" and in strengthening military trust and "jointly protecting international fairness and justice." He did not provide additional details on how these initiatives will be implemented or whether they will impact the course of the war in Ukraine. Tan also pointed out that both sides will work to "organize maritime and aerial patrols and joint exercises." Chinese President Xi Jinping visited Russia and met with President Vladimir Putin, where they agreed to deepen their common strategic understandings and cooperation in a "new era," which raised concerns in the United States.
