The Russian Ministry of Defense announced today, Saturday, that Ukrainian aircraft attacked two industrial sites in the city of Luhansk, which is under Russian control in eastern Ukraine, using long-range cruise missiles of the "Storm Shadow" type, received from Britain. The Russian Ministry stated that the missiles hit a polymer production factory and a processed meat factory in Luhansk yesterday, Friday.
The Ministry added, "The air-to-ground missiles of the Storm Shadow type provided by Britain to the Kyiv regime were used in the strike, contrary to London's claims that these weapons would not be used against civilian targets."
The ministry also mentioned that Russia shot down the two Ukrainian warplanes that launched the missiles, which were of the "Sukhoi 24" and "Mig 29" types, noting that "airborne troops assisted the assault units and attacked the enemy from the flanks."
For his part, British Defense Secretary Ben Wallace pointed out that the missiles can be used within Ukrainian territory, meaning he received assurances from Kyiv that these missiles would not be used to attack targets within internationally recognized Russian borders.
