Italian President Sergio Mattarella confirmed to his Ukrainian counterpart Volodymyr Zelensky on Saturday that Rome fully supports Kyiv in its resistance to the Russian invasion. Mattarella, who welcomed Zelensky at his residence in Rome, noted that "it is a great honor to be here in Rome."
Zelensky met with Italian President Sergio Mattarella, Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, and Pope Francis. Meloni promised Italy's full support for Ukraine in its efforts to repel "brutal and aggressive" Russian aggression. She stated that "Rome will continue to supply Kyiv with weapons and support as long as necessary... We are betting on Ukraine's victory."
