Two judicial sources revealed to Reuters that a court issued a ruling today, Thursday, sentencing an Iranian and four Iraqis to life in prison for the murder of American citizen Stephen Troile in Baghdad last year. One of the sources stated, "The Iranian man was the mastermind behind the crime." The source further remarked, "The arrest of the five suspects took place in Iraq shortly after Troile's murder." The court officials did not disclose the names of the defendants but indicated that the four Iraqis belong to a Shiite group. Police had reported at the time that Troile was killed during a failed kidnapping attempt in November.
