Sudanese Army Chief Receives Calls for a 3-Day Ceasefire

The Sudanese army stated that "Army Chief, Lieutenant General Abdul Fattah Al-Burhan, received phone calls today, Thursday, from the foreign ministers of the United States, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar, as well as from the Turkish president and the head of Egyptian intelligence." The calls come amid efforts to persuade both the army and the Rapid Support Forces to agree to a 3-day ceasefire during Eid al-Fitr, which begins tomorrow, Friday. Everyone, including calls from the UN Secretary-General and the leaders of South Africa and Ethiopia, emphasized the necessity of stopping the violence and resorting to dialogue.
